… more from the Palmetto Portrait Project …

I had the pleasure of photographing Roger several months ago for a magazine article.  This man paints with his hands, and any other non-art-type implements.  It isn’t beyond him to reach for whatever might be handy and drag it across the wet paint.

So I went to visit him at his home studio, today, to watch him work and make a few portraits in the process.

.. it really is ‘hands-on’ …

As part of a magazine assignment I had the pleasure of meeting artist Roger Hutchison. What I found most interesting about Roger, among other things, was that he now paints only with his hands after having become dissatisfied with the results he was getting with brushes.

You know, sometimes when we see something isn’t working, we continue to try to make it work. Roger, on the other hand, gave in to it and did the unexpected, and to me that totally works!

Nice goin’ Roger !
